Disponible en español: Servidor Identificado con Nombre de Dominio Completo (FQDN) o Dirección IP
Applies to:
Palisade network software 6./7.x
Can clients reach our server by FQDN (fully qualified domain name) or IP address?
Yes, these are both compatible with the FLEXnet licensing
software. Don’t put an FQDN (fully qualified domain name) on the SERVER
line of the
Server.lic file; that line must always carry either the bare server name or the
placeholder this_host
.
Instead, edit the Palisade_NetworkClient.ini file (Server Step 4),
after you create it but before you run the client installer. On the SERVERNAME
line, change the
host name to the desired FQDN or IP address. Be careful to keep the @ sign.
If you wish, you can have one Palisade_NetworkClient.ini file for clients that are on your LAN and another for client computers that need to get a license from your server but are not on your LAN.
If a given client is usually on your LAN but occasionally goes off network and needs to run the software, borrowing may be a simpler approach. See Can a user borrow a Concurrent Network license for use off network?
