"FLEXnet returned error code –1"
2.54. "FLEXnet returned error code –1"
Applies to:
All Palisade software versions 5.x
Explanation of the error:
Code -1 means that a license could not be read for this product. Some of the possible causes:
- A standalone product is installed but you have a network license, or vice versa.
- The wrong product or wrong edition is installed. @RISK as a separate item and @RISK as part of the DecisionTools Suite are two different products, and a license for one doesn't cover the other. Editions could be Industrial, Professional, or Standard.
- You might not have a license for this release number. For example, if you have a valid license for a given release, and you install a later version but your maintenance was not in effect on the release date, the later version will install a 30-day trial. You'll get a FLEXnet error after the 30 days run out.
- You might be running Windows emulation on a non-Windows computer such as a Mac.
- You might be running virtual machine software that does not quite emulate Windows low-level disk reads and writes.
- You might have a RAID (redundant disk array).
- You might have had insufficient permission at install time, so the trial license could not be written to Trusted Storage. (Trusted Storage is a non-file area of the hard drive.)
- You might have had insufficient permission when activating, so the permanent license could not be written to Trusted Storage.
- Your security software or policy settings might prevent writing to Trusted Storage, or allow the write but then undo it.
- You might have ghosted or imaged the workstation, and the ghosting or imaging did not properly copy the non-file area of the disk. (If this is a course license, we have a newer form of the software that does support imaging the workstations.)
