EXE Installer Rolls Back without Explanation
1.5. EXE Installer Rolls Back without Explanation
Applies to: Installers for 6.x/7.x/8.x
I have full administrative rights. I right-clicked the installer and selected Run as administrator. There are no error messages, but then at the end of the install I get a message like this one:
Setup Completed
The installer was interrupted before DecisionTools Suite 7.0 could be completely installed.
Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again.
But I didn't interrupt the installer; it just decided on its own to roll back the install. How do I install the software?
It looks like one or more of your C++ runtimes is not working correctly.
For some customers, the solution is as follows:
- See Microsoft Components Required for Palisade 8.x Software Install, Microsoft Components Required for Palisade 7.x Software Install or Microsoft Components Required for Palisade 6.x Software Install and manually install the necessary components directly from Microsoft's site. If you have issues with those installs, including error messages of any kind, please contact Microsoft support.
- After you have installed all the required components without any kind of error message, rerun Palisade's installer. It will not try to reinstall the components that you installed separately, and this should be enough to let the installation finish normally.
If the installation still has the same problem, something more serious is going on. Please follow this procedure:
- Uninstall all versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable, from highest to lowest, making note of each one as you go.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall them, from lowest to highest, using the links you find at The Latest Supported Visual C++ Downloads. (There's no need to install any that you didn't uninstall.) If one of the versions you're installing is 2010, also install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update.
- Rerun Palisade's installer. If it needs any versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable that you don't already have, it will reinstall them, but it won't reinstall any that you've already installed.
If the problem still remains, manually replace the DLLs in the System32 folder, as explained in solution 10 of 0xc00007b Error Fix. (Solutions 1–9 are general solutions which may not necessarily apply to the Visual C++ Redistributable issues specifically.)
